Ms. Garstka joined Pollart Miller in 2017. She practices Workers’ Compensation.
After graduating from Chicago-Kent College of Law Ms. Garstka was a staff attorney for the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission from September 2012 to June 2015. There she drafted opinions and decisions on review, orders and dissent consistent with the Commissioner’s rulings. She also reviewed and analyzed parties’ briefs, testimony, medical reports, depositions and other evidence in the transcript to draft case summaries to prepare Commissioners for oral arguments and review calls.
Following the time she spent working with the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission she then went to work with Wiedner & McAuliffe a Chicago based law firm. In her time spent there she argued cases before administrative law judges on behalf of employers in workers compensation claims, obtained depositions of expert witnesses on behalf of employers, and advised insurance companies on legal rights and recommendations to resolve workers’ compensation claims.
